The DIAL Virtual School is an initiative of the Dakota Interactive Academic Link or DIAL Consortium and began offering distance classes in 2002. The purpose of the DIAL Virtual School is to provide high-quality online and interactive class options to meet the many different needs of South Dakota students and schools for grades 6-12.  A variety of courses are available including career and technical education (CTE), credit recovery and original credit classes.  In the 2023-24 school year, DIAL offered 154 different courses in a variety of subject areas with almost 5000 registrations from 105 school districts.

 

As an approved provider for the SD Center for Virtual Education, DIAL provides curriculum and scheduling options that cannot be met elsewhere.  DIAL's online classes are perfect to fit into any student’s schedule! Our goal is to provide South Dakota schools with choices to meet the many different needs of your school and students.   Also, all DIAL classes are aligned to the state’s content standards and are taught by qualified instructional staff.   Because the South Dakota Department of Education approves all courses, schools can be assured that course offerings meet the state’s high academic standards.

• Dial Virtual School CTE courses prepare students to be college and career-ready through relevant hands-on learning opportunities.  DIAL has eleven CTE approved programs with over 40 courses to choose from.  Opportunities may also be available to earn nationally recognized certifications.

 

• DIAL has many original credit classes.  We offer the required math, English, science, and social studies with elective courses in health education, fine arts, and world language. 

 

• Our Credit Recovery classes provide on effective solution for students who need to recover credits to be on track for graduation.  Lesson level diagnostics allow students to move through material they have previously mastered.  Enrollment is available 365 days a year with a SD highly qualified instructor.  The online courses include audio resources that can "read" content to students along with 17 different language translation options.

Cost of the DIAL courses range from $260 to $325 per course, per student, per semester.
